Early Years

Gray Primary School Early Years includes Preschool to Year 2/3.

The Preschool offers a multi age program for children who have turned 4 before June 30.  There are 2 sessions offered:

Session 1

Monday, Tuesday   8.15am – 2.30pm

Wednesday    8.15am – 12noon

Session 2

Wednesday   8.15am – 10am

Thursday, Friday    8.15am – 2.30pm

 

The Preschool curriculum is based on the EARLY YEARS LEARNING FRAMEWORK. All Preschool students engage in a range of Literacy and Numeracy activities and the sensory motor program “Gateways To Literacy,” which develops fine and gross motor skills as well as oral language.

There is a well established Early Years unit which provides a safe play environment for our Preschool and Transition students.

Transition to Year 2/3  classes  follow the Australian Curriculum. Some of the resources used in the Early Years are First Steps in English and Maths, Jolly Phonics, Envision Maths and Soundwaves.  All classes participate in PE and IT lessons with specialist teachers.

Across all the Early Years classes there is a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy and Student Wellbeing.
